Overview

Supporting the organizations in the Colorado communities we serve is a priority for Xcel Energy. We invest in chambers of commerce, economic development councils and other organizations that promote business growth and community advancement. Xcel Energy stays involved in communities through these partnerships while interacting with local and regional stakeholders.

Statewide Partnerships

These are a few of the organizations we partner with in your area

  • Economic Development Council of Colorado (EDCC) is a statewide nonprofit dedicated to successful, responsible economic development in Colorado. Xcel Energy is a founding member partnering with EDCC since 1995. Xcel Energy was honored with the Company of the Year award  on April 13, 2013. We were recognized for our support for economic development efforts, support for the community through involvement in community based initiatives and growth and investment in Colorado. Xcel Energy has been an active participant in EDCC for decades. Its partnerships and operations within the 162 communities it serves, creates significant monetary investment in the business support efforts in the state.
  • Colorado Rural Workforce Consortium (Colorado Department of Labor and Employment) promotes job opportunities and growth in rural areas of Colorado. Xcel Energy serves on the board and actively participates in these efforts.

  • Downtown Denver Partnership is a nonprofit that focuses on enhancing and promoting Downtown Denver as a unique and economically healthy city in the Rocky Mountain region. Xcel Energy is a member of its board of directors.
  • Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce focuses on growth and business development in the Denver metro area. Xcel Energy has been involved with the chamber since 1985 and currently serves on the board of directors.
  • Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation, an affiliate of the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce, is a regional economic development entity that represents cities, counties, and organizations in the seven-county Denver metro and two-county northern Colorado region. Xcel Energy is a member of the board of directors.
  • Denver Metro Chamber Leadership Foundation connects leaders from the business and civic communities to strengthen Colorado’s future, while helping emerging and recognized leaders expand their knowledge and skills of local and state issues. Xcel Energy serves on this foundation's board of directors.

  • Upstate Colorado Economic Development Council supports the Weld County business community and provides service to existing and expanding primary employers along with potential Weld County businesses. Xcel Energy participates as a member of the Leadership Council and has supported the organization for 11 years.
  • Northern Colorado Economic Development Corporation serves nine jurisdictions in Larimer County, and supports current and potential employers in the region. Xcel Energy is a member of the Regional Round Table, has been supporting the organization a positive Northern Colorado business environment for more than 11 years.
  • Embrace Northern Colorado focuses on the future vision of Northern Colorado by creating a collaborative environment and finding creative solutions to regional issues. Xcel Energy has partnered with the organization for the past two years.

  • Centennial Economic Development promotes new business development, existing business retention and expansion alongside revitalization projects in the community.
  • Douglas County Economic Development provides leadership and direction for businesses while promoting a business-friendly environment for current and potential Douglas County employers bringing primary jobs to the area.

  • Adams County Economic Development is a nonprofit economic development organization serving Adams County residents and businesses. A partner since 1982, Xcel Energy participates on the Business Policy Strikeforce and Investor Relations Committee.
  • Arvada Chamber of Commerce supports and promotes local businesses to build community strength.
  • Brighton Chamber of Commerce supports the Brighton area business community. Xcel Energy has been a corporate partner for more than 20 years.
  • Brighton Economic Development Corporation represents the economic development interests of Brighton through the support of business and community leaders. Xcel Energy has been a partner since 2006.
  • Broomfield Chamber of Commerce supports the Broomfield area business community. Xcel Energy has partnered with the chamber as a corporate member since 1975.
  • Broomfield Economic Development Corporation provides economic development and assistance services to current and potential businesses in Broomfield. Xcel Energy has been a partnering corporation since 1990.
  • Exempla Lutheran Medical Center provides healthcare services to several Denver area communities. Xcel Energy participates on the board of the group's foundation, which seeks to build philanthropic support for the Exempla Lutheran Medical Center and its affiliated nonprofit organizations, which include acute care, hospice care, behavioral health and long-term care facilities.
  • Greater Golden Chamber of Commerce promotes community integrity and business growth in the Golden area.
  • Jefferson County Economic Development Corporation promotes primary job growth to strengthen the economic vitality of Jefferson County. Xcel Energy has been a corporate partner with the organization since 1995.
  • Metro North Chamber of Commerce advocates for businesses and business community growth in the north metro region of Colorado. Xcel Energy has partnered with the chamber since 1978.
  • Red Rocks Community College offers accredited two-year degree and professional certificate programs through its campuses in Lakewood and Arvada. Xcel Energy supports higher education institutions by providing advice and connections to the energy and utility industries through the President's Advisory Council.
  • University of Denver Executive Real Estate Roundtable, part of the Franklin L. Burns School or Real Estate and Construction Management (RECM) at the Daniels College of Business, brings together students and members of the RECM community by invitation 10 times per year. Xcel Energy currently participates as a corporate member of the roundtable.
  • The West Chamber is a regional chamber that includes the unincorporated Jefferson County area. Xcel Energy has been a corporate partner since 1973.
  • 36 Commuting Solutions is a nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing congestion and providing commuting options along the U.S. 36 corridor.

Pueblo and San Luis Valley Partnerships

These are a few of the organizations we partner with in your area

  • Action 22 is an advocacy group representing 22 southern Colorado counties. Xcel Energy participates and shares relevant energy issues with the organization's members.
  • The City of Pueblo receives support from Xcel Energy as a sponsor of Pueblo parks and recreation facilities. This helps fund maintenance and facility upgrades.
  • Pueblo Economic Development Corporation promotes Pueblo and surrounding communities to potential businesses and industries looking for a new location. As a founding member, Xcel Energy has participated with the group since 1981.
  • The San Luis Valley Development Resources Group focuses on supporting the San Luis Valley through economic development, community and business assistance and project funding efforts. Xcel Energy has been a partner for more than 10 years and holds a place on the board of directors.
  • The YMCA of Pueblo serves the Pueblo area through programs designed to better the lives of families and individuals in the community. Xcel Energy belongs to the President’s Circle and supports the efforts of the YMCA to enrich the lives of those it serves.

Success Through Partnership

Recent awards and recognition for Xcel Energy’s community partnerships

  • In March 2011, Xcel Energy received the Jefferson Economic Development Corporation’s 2011 Genesis Award naming the company Economic Developer of the Year.
  • In August 2011, the Pueblo County Commissioner Chair and Pueblo City Council President recognized Xcel Energy for its financial and time commitment to renewable energy and energy efficiency efforts in Pueblo through a signed proclamation.
  • In 2011, Action 22 awarded Xcel Energy with the title of “Community Champion,” given in recognition of the financial and time investment in support of Southern Colorado.
