Choose your state

Our products and services differ based on state. Please select your state (or the state you're interested in) from the list to the left.

Why do our products and services differ based on state? Because our business is regulated by state. We have regulated operations in eight Western and Midwestern states. The different regulatory body for each state we serve determines what products and services we deliver in that state.

Apprentice Requirements

Each type of work has a different training program associated with it. Basic requirements are similar. Apprenticeships requiring a CDL (Commercial Drivers License) will require you to be 21 years of age.

  1. Minimum age 18

  3. 1 year of high school algebra
  4. Qualifying score on an aptitude test.

Each state Joint Apprentice Committee (also called Area JACs or Functional JACs) may have additional requirements. State JACs review individual apprenticeship progress and ensure improvement in the apprenticeship programs. JACs review apprenticeship appraisals, check-off books, and supplemental training. JACs are usually comprised of representatives from Xcel Energy, the IBEW and the state.
